When it comes to buying shoes for toddlers and children, what they look like plays a huge part in swaying us in our decisions. We want the toddlers to look adorable, and we want the older kids to have fashionable shoes. But, how often do we stop and really consider how those super cute shoes are going to influence the growth and development of our children’s feet?
Sisters, Natalia and Aleksandra Miletic, decided to combine their individual expertise and create kids shoes that are both chic and developmentally supportive for kids from toddlerhood through to pre-school.
Natalia is a chiropractor and Aleks has a degree in “Footwear and Fashion Accessory Design”, and together they have created something beautiful and practical. As a chiropractor, Natalia has received a lot of questions around recommendations for good quality, supportive children’s shoes. She used to struggle to find shoes that met the criteria of being supportive, while remaining affordable, sustainably made and fashionable.
Frustrated with the situation, the sisters decided to take the plunge and started Piccolini Shoes mid-pandemic, which gave them the advantage of being able to take their time and really focus in on designing shoes that represent their core values, while still being forward in design.
They looked at children’s shoes from all angles and decided that they wanted to develop something that parents like the look of, and that children will benefit from wearing. And they’ve managed to do just that.
Their first line has hit our shelves soon, and it is gorgeous! A high-top sneaker in 4 classic colours – white, blue, green and pink. Sustainably made with breathable organic cotton coloured with non-toxic dye, natural rubber soles and they’re machine washable – every parents dream! They offer fantastic flexibility, shock-absorption and they’re non-slip too.
Aleks and Natalia have invested a lot of time into finding a local factory and material suppliers that align with their core values of sustainability and slow fashion. They are passionate about what they do and are excited at the prospect of expanding their colour options and their design range in the coming months, while keeping in line with their goals and the company’s core values.
